A journey of over 15 years was humble and inspiring for Samaja Vikasa Kendra Trust. We will keep updating this page to give you more comprehensive information about milestones/achievements of Samaja Vikasa Kendra Trust. Here is a quick look at important milestones so far.
- 12th February 1993: Samaja Vikasa Kendra Trust (R) – SVKT, a Voluntary Organization established and registered under Trusts Act. Also, Certified under Section 12A (a) of the Income Tax Act 1961.
- 1995: SVKT joined hands with child rights activists and became a member of Campaign Against Child Labour (CACL).
- 1995-1998: Participated in various social activities and gained vital experience.
- 30th July 1998: SVKT registered under Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act – 1976 so that our well wishers residing outside India could contribute and help us serve better.
- 2001: SVKT active role in social activities were well recognized and awarded ‘The State Convener’ for Campaign Against Child Labout (CACL).
- 2002: SVKT became Member of Campaign Against Child Trafficking (CACT). In the same year, SVKT floated the idea of ‘Makkala Mane’ especially for destitute girl children, so that child trafficking can be eradicated out of our society and also to provide basic facilities for girl children for their overall development.
- 4th June 2002: Our well wisher, Sri. S. Bruhaspathi, donated the land for realizing the dream of ‘Makkala Mane’. Makkala Mane found it’s address at Maruthi Layout, Weaver’s Colony, Gottigere Post, Bannerughatta road, Bangalore-560083.
- February 2004: Construction of Sheet roofed building measuring 12 fts x 22 fts was completed for Makkala Mane.
- May 2004: Construction of Kitchen room measuring 10 ft x 12 ft was completed.
- 28th July 2004: Makkala Mane, a home for destitute girl children, started functioning with four girl children.
- May 2004: Soon after an humble and inspiring beginning, with the help of our well wishers, foundation was laid for constructing new building for Makkala Mane, so that children can get even better facilities.
- January 2007: Construction of new RCC building for Makkala Mane was completed. Our well wishers donated cots and other items for children. In February 2007, Children moved to their new home.
- SVKT was awarded the position of ‘Convenor of Joint Action Forum of Child Rights Alliances (JAFOCRA)’.
- June 2008: Our well wishers sponsored for borewell drilling at Makkala Mane premises. It was aimed to provide adequate water for Makkala Mane.
- August 2008: SVKT became a founding member of ‘Karnataka State Child Rights Observatory’.
- September 2008: Our well wishers donated Submersible Pump and Panel board for borewell project.
